Our Story
My passion for dogs has been a defining part of my life since childhood. I grew up surrounded by loyal companions like Irish Setters, Poodles, and Spaniels. In 2016, my first Havanese, Roxi, arrived, and through her, I became more closely acquainted with this wonderful breed. In 2021, Lexi joined our family, quickly taking on the role of "boss," and we all adore her.
In 2022, a long-held dream came true when Happy's arrival marked the first time my own dog walked in the show ring. This special experience opened up new paths in the world of dog shows, and I owe it all to the support of my partner and my mother, who have been by my side every step of the way. I am endlessly grateful to both of them. Our kennel’s success is largely due to our handler, Ivett Szopkó. Without her dedication and work, we wouldn’t be where we are today, and I am deeply grateful to her for everything she does for us and our dogs.
My interests in dogs are broad: I’m fascinated by dog grooming, therapeutic dog massage, and canine genetics. I have attended multiple training sessions to deepen my knowledge, as I believe this is an area where there is always more to learn and grow.
The history of the Havanese breed dates back hundreds of years to Cuba. It developed through crossbreeding with the Poodle, though there are still some contradictions regarding its origins. What is certain is that the Havanese is an incredibly intelligent, eager-to-learn, playful, and quirky little energy bomb that makes an excellent companion. Their loyal nature means they don’t enjoy being left alone, and they get along well with other dogs and children.
However, it’s important to note that the Havanese’s coat requires regular grooming – daily brushing or professional help is recommended to maintain their coat’s health and beauty.
For me, working with dogs is not just a hobby, but a way of life. Caring for the Havanese on a daily basis, being dedicated to their happiness, health, and well-being, gives purpose to my days. My goal is for more people to discover this special, loving breed, and for the dogs from Sweet Melody of Esther Kennel to live happy, balanced lives with their new families.
